Self-watering sticks are the answer to all those overwatering incidents and the perfect solution to the holiday plant care worries.
When a plant has been overwatered the excess moisture tends to stay in the soil for longer, creating an environment for root rot to set in. With the self-watering stick, plants are only watered when they need it, and the excess water stays inside of the stick until the soil starts to reach dryness again – the dry soil ‘pulls’ the water from the stick and until equilibrium is reached.Â
Self-watering sticks are also fabulous time-savers, especially when you have a burgeoning urban jungle and as they are self-watering, you will not need to worry about your plants when you go on vacation as these are designed to deliver just the right amount of water over an extended period.
Made from terracotta these wonder sticks are a quintessential eco-friendly addition to any indoor plant family.
The Small watering stick is ideal for pots of 14cm – 20cm.
HOW TO USE
Follow this guide on how to use your watering stick.
STEP 1:Â
Water your plant thoroughly.
STEP 2:Â
Fill your watering stick with water and pop the cork back in.
STEP 3:Â
Sink the self-watering stick into the damp soil as near to the plant as possible, but be careful of damaging your plant’s roots. Make sure the watering stick is stuck down into the soil at least 3/4 the length of the self-watering stick, to ensure some is protruding for ease of access. This will ensure the roots get direct access to the water.
STEP 4:Â
Check your self-watering stick regularly to ensure it is filled with water.
