Lilium Asiflorum

Elegant, upward-facing blooms with a subtle fragrance – perfect for beds, borders, and pots.

Lilium Asiflorum is a hybrid lily that combines the best traits of Asiatic and Longiflorum lilies. These hardy perennials produce tall, elegant stems with large, slightly fragrant, trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of cream, white, soft pink, and more. With a mid-summer bloom period and an easy-care nature, Asiflorum lilies are excellent in mixed borders, containers, and as cut flowers.

Each pack contains 5 premium-quality bulbs for planting in autumn or early spring.

Planting Information

Best Planting Time:

  • April – September

  • Autumn (April–May) or Early Spring (August–September)
  • Blooms from November to January, depending on climate

Depth & Spacing:

  • Plant bulbs 10–15 cm deep

  • Space bulbs 20 cm apart

  • For containers, use pots at least 30 cm deep with good drainage

Soil Requirements:

  • Well-draining, fertile loamy soil

  • pH: 6.0–6.8 (slightly acidic to neutral)

  • Improve heavy clay with compost and coarse sand

How to Grow Lilium Asiflorum

  1. Choose the Right Spot:
Select a sunny to partially shaded location. These lilies thrive with at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.

  2. Prepare the Soil:
Work in compost or bulb food to enrich the soil and improve drainage.

  3. Plant the Bulbs:
Place each bulb with the pointed end up, 10–15 cm deep. Water well after planting.

  4. Watering:
Keep soil evenly moist, not soggy. Water deeply when topsoil feels dry.

  5. Feeding:

    • At planting: Add slow-release bulb fertiliser

    • During growth: Feed every 2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser

    • After blooming: Use potassium-rich fertiliser to strengthen bulbs

  6. Mulching:
Apply a 5 cm layer of mulch to help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.

Aftercare & Dormancy

  • Deadhead spent flowers to prevent seed formation and extend blooming.

  • Let the foliage die back naturally after flowering, as it nourishes the bulb for next season.

  • Reduce watering once the plant goes dormant.

  • In regions with excessive winter rain, bulbs can be lifted and stored in a cool, dry place and replanted the following season.

Pests & Diseases

  • Common pests: Aphids, thrips, lily beetles – treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap

  • Diseases:

    • Botrytis (grey mold): Avoid overhead watering and ensure good airflow

    • Bulb rot: Prevent overwatering and ensure proper drainage

Companion Planting

Pairs beautifully with:

  • Alliums

  • Freesias

Avoid planting near:

  • Other lilies without spacing (to reduce disease transfer)
