The HI1271 is the replacement pH electrode for the Hanna Checker pH meters HI98100, HI98103 and HI98115. It is a single junction pH electrode with a slim 8 mm polypropylene body that easily fits into test tubes and other small vessels.
Important: pH sensor care and storage
Proper care and storage of the pH sensor is extremely important. Even on a brand new unit, letting the sensor dry out can permanently damage the glass electrode, which shows up as wrong or unstable readings.
- Always keep the sensor moist. Never store the sensor dry. Put a few drops of pH storage solution (or pH 4.01 buffer) inside the protective cap so the electrode sponge or tip stays hydrated. Do not use distilled or pure water for storage.
- Clean after use. After each test, rinse the electrode tip thoroughly with pure or distilled water, and gently shake off the excess water before replacing the protective cap.
- Cap securely. Always make sure the protective cap is tightly closed after use, so the storage liquid cannot evaporate.
Damage caused by the sensor drying out or by improper storage is not covered by a warranty or return.
Hanna electrode storage solution (HI70300L) is available in our shop. It also suits rehydrating an electrode after cleaning.
Replacing the electrode
Unscrew the old probe from the meter and screw on the new one. The Checker pH meter HI98103 is also available in our shop.
