Robuschka is a vigorous beetroot with strong foliage. The roots are round and smooth-skinned, with an even dark red inside and less zoning than many beets. The flavour is sweet and fruity, so it is good grated raw in salads as well as roasted, boiled or pickled. It suits fresh eating and storage, and the young leaves can be picked as greens.
